For over 50 years, the leading name in aluminum boat construction has been Xpress. This company was instrumental in developing the first all-welded aluminum boat, resulting in great acclaim. Xpress now manufactures a number of different aluminum boats for a wide array of applications, from hunting to fishing to cruising.

L&M Marine in Stapleton is your Alabama Xpress boat dealer. Read on to learn more about this all-American company and what their boats have to offer you.

Company History

Way back in 1966, Xpress Boats was founded as a family-owned and -operated enterprise. The company started in a small schoolhouse in the town of Friendship, Arkansas, and built the very first all-welded aluminum boat on the market, which got them some acclaim from the boating industry.

During the 1980s, Xpress Boats developed their Hyper-Lift® hull, which is a padded hull that improved the boat’s performance and durability, as well as adding some eye-catching style. This allowed the company’s all-aluminum boats to perform on a level with fiberglass boats. In fact, their boats can achieve speeds of up to 70 miles per hour with up to 250 horsepower possible.

The company grew exponentially over the next twenty years and moved into a larger headquarters in Hot Springs, Arkansas, in 2000. Xpress provides customers with more choices and better value than ever before with their boat families. You can get bay, jon, skiff, bass, catfish, hunting, crappie and utility boats from Xpress, with each craft carefully honed to suit its specific purpose.

Construction Process

Each Xpress boat is manufactured with the utmost care by builders who take pride in their work. The 5052 aluminum alloy utilized in each boat’s construction comes into the plant on a large roll and is precision-cut into parts using an automated computer-aided drafting program with very little waste created. The process of construction is streamlined at every turn to reduce the time it takes to build the boats without sacrificing quality.

Each hull is carefully welded together, then all the voids are filled with an environmentally-friendly expandable foam that improves buoyancy. This is done to create a stable and quiet ride, and a lifetime warranty backs up the hull’s performance and durability.

Finishing Touches

Once the boats are welded and foam-injected, then they receive a careful check by the company’s Quality Control team to ensure smoothness. Then the boats move onto the paint-prep area where they are thoroughly cleaned before the painting is done to ensure even coating.

The gunnels, splash wells and decks on Xpress boats are coated with a rough-surface Xtreme coating that wears very well and is easy to maintain. Fiberglass consoles are installed to reduce weight and improve functionality while adding some aesthetic appeal. Motors are installed and the boat is inspected once again by a team of quality-assurance personnel who go over every detail and sign the paperwork to approve the boat’s quality. Completed Xpress boats are loaded onto durable, lightweight aluminum BackTrack trailers before they’re transported to the storage yard, where they await transport to your local dealer.

Great care is taken to ensure that every Xpress boat is ready for action before it’s sent off to dealers like L&M Marine so you can rest assured that you’re getting a soundly-built aluminum boat when you choose one of their models.
